Tipsy Cow Ice Cream, the family-owned shop known for its alcohol-infused scoops, is packing up its current storefront in Freiheit Village for a new spot just down the way. The move will take the business from 2154 Gabriels Place, Ste. 104, to 2124 Gabriels Place, Ste. 106, once its current lease runs out.

According to Community Impact, the new address previously housed the fast-casual chicken salad restaurant Roost, which closed in May. Owner Mike Chase said the available space was too good of an opportunity to pass up, and the new location is expected to come with a drive-thru and more room for seating than the current shop offers.

A Bigger Footprint for a Fan-Favorite Scoop Shop

Tipsy Cow is owned by Mike Chase and his son, Grant, and the shop has built a name for itself with homemade, alcohol-infused ice cream alongside more kid-friendly flavors, milkshakes, floats and dairy-free options. Chase said the business also plans to expand its menu at some point, though no timeline has been given for that expansion beyond the move itself.

Per the same report, the current Gabriels Place location will remain open as long as possible while the new space comes together, and the Chases hope to debut at the new address in December. The exact date their lease ends and the timing of the physical move were not specified.

From Viral TikToks to a Second New Braunfels Address

This is not the first time Tipsy Cow has expanded on the strength of its growing following. Viral TikToks posted by Mike Chase's son drew attention to the shop's adult-oriented treats and helped bring new customers through the door, the station notes, citing reporting from the San Antonio Express-News. A viral video in February 2022 also led so many followers to ask whether the shop shipped its ice cream that Tipsy Cow eventually began shipping nationwide, as Community Impact reported in an earlier story.

That nationwide attention also paved the way for a second New Braunfels location. In November 2023, the shop was reported to be planning an additional storefront at 1705 S. Walnut Ave., according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing cited by the San Antonio Express-News. That planned 1,900-square-foot space was expected to include a larger kitchen, more storage and an expanded menu, according to the Herald-Zeitung, with construction slated to start October 31, 2023, and wrap around January 31, 2024.

For now, the focus is on the Freiheit Village move, which keeps Tipsy Cow in familiar territory while giving the Chase family more space to serve its boozy scoops and other treats to New Braunfels regulars.
