YaYa Best Tex Mex Yogurt

YaYa Best Tex Mex Yogurt is a spot to score frozen yogurt and more.

It's like other build-your-own frozen yogurt spots, except that the flavors are all Mexican-inspired, like tamarind, Mexican hot chocolate, Aztec coffee blend, chamoy, jalapeño, strawberry hibiscus and mango, among others. It also offers toppings that you can use to further customize your treat.

With a five-star Yelp rating out six reviews, YaYa Best Tex Mex Yogurt has been getting positive attention.

Alex S., who reviewed it on Nov. 24, said, "Delicious and interesting flavors! After working at a frozen yogurt store in college, I never thought I'd eat yogurt again, but these flavors were too good not to have a cup. Very welcoming and kind owner too!"

Yelper Julia J. added, "Amazing service! Nice owner! Gave us free samples and the yogurt flavors were creative and so good! I would definitely recommend this place! Flavors are so interesting and yummy!"

Another newcomer, Popbar is serving up handcrafted gelato on a stick. The international chain has several locations in Texas and other states, plus Canada, Panama and Singapore.

It specializes in pops made from either gelato, sorbet or yogurt. You pick your flavor, then customize it with various dips and toppings. Popular combinations include vanilla with waffle cone, chocolate-covered pistachio and chocolate and caramel-covered popcorn. Besides pops, you can get Popwiches, Gelatoshakes and other frozen treats.

With a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp, Popbar has been getting positive attention.

Sandy K., who was the first to review Popbar on Sept. 21, said, "Such a fun idea and absolutely delicious! We loved our gelato pops and being able to select your dip and toppings makes it even better. The owners are so sweet and were incredibly helpful!"

And Katy D. said, "This Popbar is so cute and you get to customize your pops any way you like it. So many different gelato and sorbets to choose from and the dipping and topping combinations are unique every time you want to customize it."

Popbar is open from 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Sunday, and 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Kolache Donuts

Kolache Donuts specializes in breakfast items, including doughnuts and coffee. You'll see menu items like the apple fritter, jalapeño cheese sausage roll, breakfast burrito, croissant sandwich, cinnamon roll and eclair.

For doughnuts, look for options like cake, blueberry, chocolate, sprinkles, glazed, buttermilk and more.

Yelp users are still warming up to Kolache Donuts, which currently holds three stars out of three reviews on the site.

Yelper Kinhchhoung Y., who was the first to review it on Aug. 27, wrote, “I went downtown the other day and stopped by this doughnut store. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Highly recommended to everyone! The girl who works there is very friendly and she treats you with nothing but the best."  

Janice E. noted, "I like the kolaches, but my stomach oddly hurts really bad after I eat here and the doughnuts were alright."

Kolache Donuts is open from 5 a.m.–noon on Monday-Saturday and 6 a.m.–noon on Sunday.
