Wondering where to find the best place in Sacramento to sip a glass or two of red, white or rosé over a plate of cheese or other nibbles?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top wine bars in the city, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the coziest, the fanciest and everything in between.
1. The Rind

Topping the list is The Rind. Located at 1801 L St. in Midtown, the cozy, cheese-focused New American joint is the highest rated wine bar Sacramento, boasting 4.5 stars out of 758 reviews on Yelp.
The wine selection ranges from California to Italy, France, Spain and New Zealand. Reviewers love their ever-changing offerings for cheese and charcuterie boards, grilled cheese sandwiches and creative takes on mac and cheese.
And on Wednesdays, bottles of wine $30 and over come with a free cheese board. (You can see the drinks menu here and the food menu here.)
2. Moxie

Next up is Boulevard Park's Moxie, situated at 2028 H St. With 4.5 stars out of 429 reviews on Yelp, the fine-dining New American spot from Adam Chaccour and Bill Curren has proven to be a local favorite for its ever-changing menu of specials and the staff's ability to recommend wines to pair with each dish.
Don't be put off by the short menu, either -- house policy is to be flexible: "At Moxie, you get what you want. If it’s in the building (or close by), we will prepare it."
3. Seasons 52

Arden Fair's Seasons 52, located at 1689 Arden Way, Suite 1065, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the Sacramento outpost of the national seasonal-fare chain four stars out of 1,235 reviews.
Yelpers recommend the spot for its good quality, helpful recommendations from servers and reasonable prices on wines by the glass, especially during happy hour. As for food, check out the seasonal flatbread offerings: right now, they include lobster and mozzarella or short ribs and cheddar. (See the menu here.)
4. The Waterboy

The Waterboy, a longtime French fine-dining fixture in Midtown, is another go-to for wine paired with food, with four stars out of 771 Yelp reviews.
It has one of the most extensive wine lists of any restaurant in Sacramento, each chosen personally by chef-owner Rick Mahan, and has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for two years running. You can check out the full list here, or just head over to 2000 Capitol Ave. to see for yourself.
5. TableVine

Last but not least, if you're in Downtown, check out TableVine, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 174 reviews on Yelp for its upscale, wine-country-inspired New American fare like pork and clams, butternut squash ravioli and pan-seared scallops.
The extensive wine list focuses on California and West Coast vintages, but has plenty of offerings in every category from all over the world. Check out the full list here and the dinner menu here. You can find TableVine at 1501 14th St.
