Enjoy traditional Irish cuisine and American fare at this restaurant. On the menu, expect staples like shepherd's pie, Irish root soup and the meatloaf sandwich. The corned beef, cabbage and beer list were popular with customers.

"This place is like eating in Ireland," Yelper Holly D. said. "They have many real Irish favorites and they are all good. They also have a good variety of Irish beers and whiskeys. We love this place, and the prices are reasonable."

2. Café At The Plaza

Next up is cafe, New American and breakfast and brunch spot Café At the Plaza, situated at 1007 N. Cass St. With four stars out of 213 reviews on Yelp, it's proven to be a local favorite. 

For breakfast, try the smoked salmon benedict, which includes smoked salmon and poached eggs on a toasted English muffin with Hollandaise sauce  and dill that comes with a chive hash-brown. If you are stopping by for lunch, check out the falafel plate that contains falafel, baba ganoush, Mediterranean salad with harissa dressing and feta, warm pita wedges and a side of cucumber tzatziki to fill you up. 

3. The Knick

Bar, lunch and dinner and traditional American spot The Knick is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 1030 E. Juneau Ave., four stars out of 170 reviews. 

Attached to the Knickerbocker Hotel and windows overlooking Lake Michigan, the restaurant delivers on fish, seafood, steak and chicken dishes. Order the cajun tilapia that is blackened and served with sweet corn-lima bean succotash and basmati rice, or opt for the Korean BBQ short rib with vegetable fried rice, grilled broccolini and Korean BBQ braising sauce. 

Brunch is served on the weekend. 

4. Monica's on Astor

Monica's on Astor, a bar, is another much-loved neighborhood go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 50 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1228 N. Astor St. to see for yourself.

Yelpers described the location as cozy, laid back and friendly. Get comfortable on the couch in front of the fireplace or play a round of pool or darts or a board game while throwing back some beers or a glass of wine.  

5. Bollywood Grill

Check out Bollywood Grill, which has earned four stars out of 131 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Indian and Pakistani spot at 1038 N. Jackson St.

Touting authentic Indian cuisine on its website, Bollywood Grill offers a lunch and dinner buffet as well as a traditional menu of the country's specialties. Be sure to check out the chicken tikka masala and naan bread and curry dishes, according to Yelpers.
