Guavas Cuban Cafe

Guavas Cuban Cafe is a Cuban spot that's open for breakfast and brunch.
On the menu, look for favorites such as the Miami Breakfast with your choice of breakfast meat, eggs, potatoes and toast; the Havana Breakfast with two eggs, rice, picadillo and avocado; and the Cuban sandwich complete with pulley's spork, ham, salami, pickles, mustard seeds, mayo and Swiss cheese. With 4.5 stars out of 13 Yelp reviews, Guavas Cuban Cafe appears to be off to a strong start with locals.
Sonja P., who reviewed it on Dec. 8, said, "Popped in here for a late lunch and was delighted by the authenticity of the cuisine. We ordered the vaca frita hash, ropa vieja and yuca frita, and each was super delicious."
Lisa W. noted, "My new spot for breakfast/brunch! The service was speedy, friendly and helpful. I had the hash and it did not disappoint—so many flavors and [the] perfect portion."
Stop in and try it: the new cafe is open from 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
Cargo Food Authority
600 N. First Ave., Downtown West

Cargo Food Authority is a food stand, offering specialty food and more.
The space is in the Target Center and offers Mexican fare, Asian cuisine, pizza and wings. Each of the food options has its own counter. Bring a group of friends before a Timberwolves home game and have your choice between the four. Alcoholic beverages are also on offer.
It's received mixed reviews thus far on Yelp, with a three-star rating out of four reviews.
Kelley W., who reviewed it on Nov. 29, said, "Great concept with a lot of seating. You can get food from four different stands: Mexican, Asian, chicken wings and pizza. Had a couple of bars as well."
Allison W., said, "May be worth a stop if you need a convenient location before attending an event at Target Center or need a casual place for a large group."
The spot is open from 11 a.m.–midnight daily.
Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant
3915 Hiawatha Ave., Howe

Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant is an Ethiopian spot.
Expect a variety of Ethiopian foods from owners Munaye Tesfaye and Ade Terefe, who, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports, have 40 years of combined experience in both Minneapolis and Nairobi, Kenya.
The new restaurant has been warmly received, with five stars out of four Yelp reviews so far.
E S., who reviewed it on Dec. 7, wrote, "We started with lentil sambusas, which were flavorful with a bit of heat. Then we followed with a sampler platter with several veggies and meats. My favorite was really the sauce from the doro wat, and I loved the lentil dishes. We also had a lamb dish, which was wonderful. Seemed to be very good quality ingredients."
Ray H. noted, "The flavors are a bit different and some of the dishes are ones we'd never encountered, but the homey vibe was just what we were looking for and the flavors were on point."
The new spot has yet to share its hours online.
