Craving desserts?

Topping the list is Duck Donuts. Located at 1710 Kenilworth Ave., Suite 220, in Dilworth, the breakfast and brunch spot, which offers doughnuts and coffee, is the highest rated dessert spot in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 443 reviews on Yelp.

The spot offers made-to-order custom doughnuts, plus specialty flavors like maple icing with chopped bacon, cinnamon sugar with vanilla drizzle, mint icing with chocolate drizzle and glazed with holiday sprinkles. (See the full list of featured flavors here.)

Yelper Solita J., who reviewed it on Oct. 22, wrote, "What's not to love about Duck Donuts? Warm doughnuts, delicious toppings and all for a decent price. I prefer a more classic doughnut, but seriously, I've not had anything I haven't enjoyed there. Oh, and the coffee and service are good too. That's just icing on the doughnut."

2. Inizio Pizza Napoletana

Next up is Piper Glen Estates's Inizio Pizza Napoletana, situated at 10620 Providence Road, Suite A. With 4.5 stars out of 347 reviews on Yelp, the Italian spot, which serves up pizza and gelato, has proven to be a local favorite.

If you're interested in desserts, it offers daily selections of cannolis, cakes and gelato flavors, which you can order alongside its traditional and specialty pizzas. (See the full menu here.)

Chris B. said, "Recently dined here and ordered the margherita pizza with mushrooms, which was very good. Crust was also very good. Shared a cherry gelato for dessert, which was excellent."

3. Golden Cow Creamery

Downtown Charlotte's Golden Cow Creamery, located at 170 W. Summit Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the spot to score ice cream and frozen yogurt and more 4.5 stars out of 240 reviews.

The parlor offers hand-crafted, small-batch flavors, including a permanent core of six classics: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, salted Oreo and Dunkaroos. It also has ice cream cookie sandwiches and more. (See your options here.)

Allison C. wrote, "Cute but no frills ice cream parlor. Not a huge variety of flavors or particularly creative flavors, but I think the quality is there. I was recommended the two most popular flavors: salted Oreo and birthday cake. I tried both and liked them so I got them in a waffle cone."

4. Va Da Vie

Va Da Vie, a spot to score gelato and more in Freedom Park, is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 220 Yelp reviews. Head over to 4203 Park Road to see for yourself.

Flavors include vanilla bean, cherry almond, lemon sorbet, pistachio, coffee bean, banana, strawberry and lemon ricotta, among others.

Amanda R., who reviewed it on Sept. 17, said, "Yum! This place is a must try! The gelato is absolutely amazing and the staff are so friendly. A man who I think was the owner came out and explained that everything is homemade with their own recipes."

Over in Elizabeth, check out Two Scoops Creamery, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 203 reviews on Yelp. You can find the spot to score ice cream and frozen yogurt and more at 913 Central Ave.

The flavor menu has options like rum raisin, rocky road, butter pecan, bubble gum, cherry vanilla, cookie dough, mint chocolate chip and cotton candy. You can add toppings to your ice cream as well, like sprinkles, Oreo, Butterfingers and caramel. It also offers root beer floats. (See the full menu here.)

Jake A., who reviewed it on Dec. 14, said, "This is a phenomenal ice cream shop. There is an extensive spread of flavors that are truly unique. I had the biscoff and blueberry cheesecake. Personally, I love biscoff so it was an easy choice, but very few places have that flavor! The blueberry cheesecake has real chunks of cheesecake in it, which make it truly delicious."
