Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top escape game spots around Washington, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're in the market for escape games.
1. Escape Room Live Dc - Georgetown

Topping the list is Escape Room Live DC - Georgetown. Located at 3345 M St. NW (between North 34th and North Bank streets) in Georgetown, the escape game spot is the highest rated escape game spot in Washington, boasting 4.5 stars out of 323 reviews on Yelp.
As one of Escape Room Live’s two locations, the Georgetown site features Hollywood-inspired sets for its escape room games. There are five escape rooms, each has its own theme and own difficulty level. In the Friday the 13th room, the game is to keep Jason out until midnight; help save New York City from destruction in the Ghostbusters room; stop a hijacked train and diffuse a bomb in the "Runaway Subway" room; or find the secret passage to escape the sealed stone doors of an Egyptian tomb with the "Curse the Mummy" room. The rooms were very well done and had all the "grime" you would expect on the New York subway. It took us a few minutes to get started and we had to ask for a hint, but after that, we were on a roll.”
2. Escape Artist Dc

Next up is Capitol Hill's Escape Artist DC, situated at 720 I St. SE With five stars out of 79 reviews on Yelp, the challenge course, party and event planning and escape game spot has proven to be a local favorite.
Opened since 2015, Escape Artist DC develops all of its own escape games and puzzles, according to their website. They are constantly changing their escape rooms to keep things interesting.
There are three escape rooms currently: "House of Prawns," where guests must sneak into Presidential candidate, Frederick O'Connor's office to uncover the incriminating evidence about the election; "Gallery Heist" where guests form a team of detectives who must first find a way out of the locked room. 3. Insomnia Escape Room DC

Glover Park's Insomnia Escape Room DC, located at 2300 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Unit 200B, Floor 2 (between North Observatory Lane and North Hall Place), is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the escape game spot 4.5 stars out of 85 reviews.
The escape room spot has 60-minute puzzles and games to solve within their four escape rooms. Each room has varying levels of difficulty to solve and escape from. Enter the mafia room, consisting of of bootleggers, La Cosa Nostra, federal agents and important DC politicians in a 1933 secret speakeasy.
"I just finished the alchemist room with family and a friend. It was an incredible experience! The room was so well done and the hints during the hour are very helpful and do just enough to get you through it," shared Ted H.
4. The Great Escape Room

The Great Escape Room, an escape game and team building activity spot in Dupont Circle, is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 39 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1730 Connecticut Ave. NW (between North R St. and North South Street) to see for yourself.
The Great Escape Room has three escape rooms for guests to solve puzzles to resolve a mystery. The first is the game room in which guests must beat Professor Moriarty in a game to save the world before time runs out. The second room is the Sherlock Holmes’ library in which guests get to play detective to solve the mystery and join The League of the Masters of Elementary Deduction.
