A new addition to Haymarket, Kamakura is an upscale Japanese spot that's located at 150 State St. Yelpers are liking the new addition, which currently holds a four-star rating out of ten reviews.

The restaurant specializes in kaiseki cuisine: the "Japanese tradition of intricate, refined small plates and has origins that can be traced back more than 700 years."

It offers a formal 12-course kaiseki dinner at the chef's counter, which includes fare such as seasoned black cod sashimi, sauteed mushroom medley and steamed octopus, and a crispy rice ball with salmon caviar and wasabi dashi. The full experience costs $156 per person plus more for beverage pairings.

Other options on the menu include bento-style lunches, Japanese entrees like marinated cod and wagyu beef, and sweets like lemon meringue matcha tiramisu.

Yelper Juliana E. wrote, "Kamakura was super delicious and fresh. ... The waitstaff is extremely kind and outgoing, and the food was absolutely phenomenal! We got so many menu items and tons of appetizers. My favorite dishes were the cod, peppers, soup, and sushi pallets."

Shore Leave is a tiki-themed cocktail bar that recently opened at 11 William E Mullins Way in South End.

Beachy decor and other touches like tiki mugs fill the bar, which serves an array of cocktails you'd order at a Caribbean resort and offers cold food items like the yellowfin tuna poke with cucumber, shiso and macadamia, and hot dishes like the Dan Dan wontons, filled with black beans, pork, mala-oil and peanuts.

With a 3.5-star Yelp rating out of 16 reviews, Shore Leave is still finding its land legs, but it's early days yet. Click here to glance at the menu.

Yelper Dahlia I. noted, "I was blown away by the interior.  Three full bars that are all beautiful. [I] came here on a date and we shared the wontons, bluefin tuna poke, pork belly baos, and standout scallion pancakes. This place definitely has kinks to work out but the food was all still tasty for a new spot that opened a week ago."
