A new upscale Mediterranean eatery has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to NoMad, called Benno, is located at 7 E. 27th St.

This is the third restaurant in the Evelyn Hotel from chef Jonathan Benno, formerly of Lincoln Ristorante. The other two restaurants are a trattoria and a bakery. The restaurant's Mediterranean cuisine features influences from Benno's Italian and French fine dining training.

Diners can select from a prix-fixe menu with three, four or five courses. An à la carte menu is available at the bar.

With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh addition has already made a good impression.

Ellie C., who reviewed the new spot on Nov. 27, wrote, "I am beyond impressed with this divine new restaurant. The service was flawless. Every course was prepared in an original preparation with perfect flavor. The veal for two was a knockout: tender, moist and perfectly served."

And Blane C. wrote, "The entire experience was very special. Some favorites from the five-course tasting menu were the pig's trotter, agnolotti and lumache. The service was incredible all night. Everyone was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, and made our entire night one to remember."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Benno is open from 5:30–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
