Topping the list is The Alibi. Located at 237 Second St. NW (between North C Street and North Constitution Avenue) downtown, the British-American pub is the highest rated in Washington, boasting 4.5 stars out of 320 reviews on Yelp.

The restaurant describes itself as "inspired by British traditions and influenced by local American products." It offers traditional American bar food such as wings and burgers, plus entrees like roasted salmon. Fish and chips and beef stew are examples of English fare on the menu, which you can view here.

Inspired by cafés in East London, its menu rotates daily depending on the seasonal products that are available. Offerings range from avocado toast and quinoa salad to brisket and jerk chicken sandwiches, as well as the aforementioned burgers. To peruse a sample menu, click here.

St. Arnold's, a Belgian-American pub in Dupont Circle, is another go-to, with four stars out of 673 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1827 Jefferson Place NW (between North Connecticut Avenue and North 19th Street) to see for yourself.

Yelpers rave about the signature mussels dishes. The steamed mussel pots come with various sauces, ranging from the original Ommegang Abbey Dubbel beer sauce with caramelized shallots and duck fat, to a chipotle cream sauce. Patrons can wash it all down with one of the many Belgian beers on tap or in bottles. (See the mussels menu here.)

4. Sudhouse

It's hard to ignore a list of appetizers like nachos, wings and fritters and hush puppies to pair with a craft beer from one of the many taps or bottles at the bar. If customers are looking for a bit more to eat, there are numerous wraps, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and salad.

The pub also serves brunch, which includes eggs, pancakes and fruit. Click here to glance at the full menu.
