If you love live music, there's no time like the present when it comes to getting out and about in Charlotte. From jazz to soul to indie artists, here are the local shows worth checking out this week.

CLT Loft Sessions  

The loft sessions are a series of shows highlighting indie artists. The last session of 2018 features Charlotte's Emily Sage and Greg Cox. This is a BYOB event.

First Friday: Jazz N Soul Music

This event features smooth jazz and holiday soul music. Charlotte band Affectual headlines the list of performers. There will be two performances on Dec. 7.   

When: Friday, Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m. & 10 p.m. (two performances)

AfroPop! Charlotte, Vol. 27: Goodbye 2018!

This will mark the final AfroPop event of the year. Music will be provided by DJ Kato and DJ Steel Wheel. Musical selections will include afrobeats, Afro-Latin house and more.  

When: Saturday, Dec. 8, 9:30 p.m.-Sunday, Dec. 9, 2 a.m.
