A new gastropub has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 748 Frederick Road in Catonsville, the new arrival is called State Fare.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, State Fare offers traditional pub fare and comfort food on the menu. For breakfast, which is served all day, try the bananas Foster French toast, consisting of sliced challah bread in a sauce of vanilla and dark rum flambeed bananas. At lunch, try the MD club, which comes with shrimp salad, a crab cake, lettuce, tomato and bacon on a sourdough roll. Later in the day, there is the twin blackened chicken entree topped with crab meat in a creamy white wine herb sauce over roasted Brussels sprouts.
Thirsty? The restaurant also serves a wide selection of craft beers, cocktails and wine.
With a three-star rating out of 22 reviews on Yelp so far, the new bar and eatery has received mixed feedback — but it's still early days.
Heidi F., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Dec. 13, wrote, "[I'm] so happy to have State Fare in Catonsville. This place is nicely decorated, clean and so fresh. The menu is really creative and I can't wait to try everything."
Jason S, noted, "[There is] great food and service. [We] stopped in for brunch with the whole family and we were promptly seated. Food came out a little slow but the place was pretty packed. For not being open very long, I think they were doing great. We'll be going back soon."
State Fare is now open from 8 a.m.-2 a.m. daily, so swing on by to take a peek.
