Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top places to visit in the Strip District, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of neighborhood businesses. Read on for the results.
1. Gaucho Parrilla Argentina
Topping the list is Argentine spot Gaucho Parrilla Argentina. Located at 1601 Penn Ave., it's the most popular business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 1,680 reviews on Yelp.
Gaucho Parrilla serves "wood-fired delights with an Argentine flair," according to the website. On the menu, look for Qui Qui Chicky, with "two legs and two thighs with ancient alien quiquirimichi sauce from outer space and grilled lemons." 2. P&G's Pamela's Diner
Next up is diner and breakfast and brunch spot P&G's Pamela's Diner, serving sandwiches and more, situated at 60 21st St. With 4.5 stars out of 548 reviews on Yelp, it's proven to be a local favorite.
This Pittsburgh-based franchise has five locations. Yelpers recommend Pamela's Famous Crepe-Style Hotcakes, with a choice of double smoked, thick-sliced bacon, hand-carved ham, sausage links or turkey sausage patties. Or try the Chorizo Hash, made with Lyonnaise potatoes mixed with chorizo sausage and jalapeno, topped with melted cheddar and sour cream. It's served with two eggs, toast or tortilla. Food truck and Mexican spot Edgar's Best Tacos is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 2533 Penn Ave., five stars out of 73 reviews.
While this is a mobile restaurant, the truck spends the majority of its time stationary in the Strip District. On the menu, find quesadilla, empanadas, enchiladas, burritos and, of course, tacos.
