The Louie

The Louie is a gay bar and traditional American spot.

This spot has nightly entertainment in its two-bar, two-stage accommodations. Dig into its extensive menu with items like the Green Chili Burger (Angus beef with pepper jack cheese and Mexican green chili) and the Patron Tequila Lime Chicken Breast (with lime sauce, mexi-ranch and cheddar cheese). 

With a four-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp thus far, it's proving to be a hit with locals.

Yelper Guillermo G., who reviewed it on Dec. 24, wrote, "I really enjoyed this place. I love the setup, the staff is nice and I like that they have the pool tables. The place is also clean and it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Had the black and blue salad. It was pretty good."

Anndrea N. noted, "The set up is so comfortable—you can grab a table and have some alone time or go into the next room and and have some drinks and play some pool or even dance."

The new bar is open from 10 a.m.–2 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–2 a.m. on weekends.

Lovecraft

Lovecraft is a beer bar and ale house.

With 31 craft beers, ciders and wine rotating on tap, this ale house integrates New Mexican cuisine with Texas-style smoked meats. The bar features a diverse selection of beverages, like the Phantom Bride, an IPA from Oceanside, Calif., and the Papago Orange Blossom, a fruit beer from Tempe. It's proving popular so far, having earned 4.5 stars out of 14 Yelp reviews.

Millie S., who reviewed it on Dec. 27, said, "Its atmosphere is casual, warm, clean and so friendly! The taproom with barbecue is a perfect concept for this area. The staff is friendly. The beer selection is excellent! So many taps to choose from, not to mention what they have canned in the cooler."

Samantha B. added, "Welcome to your new favorite bar! I have been so excited for this place to open and we finally got to go last night and were not disappointed at all."

Stop by and check it out: Lovecraft is open from 3–11 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, and 3 p.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday.)

Boba Day

Boba Day is a spot to score juice, smoothies and bubble tea.

This joint uses a variety of fresh fruits to cultivate its unique drink menu. Its 4-step process involves choosing a base, from smoothies to slushies, choosing your flavor, with options like blueberry, chai and pistachio, and then adding toppings like honey boba, coconut jelly or mint. Espresso coffee, gelato ice cream and desserts like apple pie are also available. 

The new spot is proving popular so far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 13 Yelp reviews.

Nancy W., who reviewed it on Jan. 3, wrote, "This is an amazing place. So far I have tried the mango smoothie and the strawberry gelato. So good! The owner, Becky, is great. Very friendly!"

Lai C. added, "So excited that a boba place opened by my house! I tried the black milk tea with boba and grass jelly. Very good! The staff was nice and there were so many options on the menu."

It's open from 9 a.m.–9:30 daily.

Sazerac

Sazerac is a cocktail bar.

Stop by on select nights for specialty shows while you enjoy a craft beer or one of its signature cocktails like the Sage Gimlet (vodka, sage, lime and sugar), the Double Down (bourbon, lemon, grapefruit, honey and Amaro) or the House Sazerac (rye, sugar, bitters and absinthe rinse). Alisa C., who reviewed it on Jan 3., wrote, "Awesome cocktails. Bar has a great ambiance. Dark, but not too dark, with great bar lighting. Good beer selection and great cocktails."

And Vanessa J. said, "Amazing wood details, dim lighting, seating, long bar and a piano to boot! I only tried one drink, but it was so good I had three more of the same."

George Yang’s Chinese Cuisine is a Chinese spot.

With combinations like its Citrus Chicken, Szechuan String Beans, Mongolian Beef and more, this Chinese restaurant prides itself on its traditional Asian Cuisine. Customers can also delve into a variety of noodle and seafood dishes, along with its specialty dessert of banana and chocolate rolls. 

It's getting positive feedback from its clientele, having four stars out of 72 Yelp reviews thus far.

Bettie R., who reviewed it on Dec. 16, wrote, "This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the greater metro Phoenix area. The atmosphere is perfect to entertain guests, service is excellent and the food is delicious."

Matt A. noted, "I think this is the best Chinese food I've ever had. We've been back about five times since it opened only a month ago."
