Crime incidents in Cupertino saw an overall decrease last week, for the third week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell slightly to 68 for the week of January 21, down from 71 the week before.

Burglary and theft led the decrease in crime incidents. Burglary fell to two incidents last week, from four the week before. Theft went from 14 to 13.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of vandalism went from zero to four.

There were 49 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of two from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations.

As far as where crime is concentrated in the city, Rancho Rinconada, Garden Gate and South Blaney had the most reported incidents last week. Garden Gate and South Blaney were at the top of the list the previous week as well.

However, Garden Gate also experienced the largest drop in crime. Crime reports in Monta Vista North also fell, after increasing the week before, and incidents in Inspiration Heights are down considerably as well.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Fridays, Tuesdays and Mondays produced the most reported crimes last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Thursdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while incidents on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays went up. Late afternoon, early afternoon and late morning saw the most crime last week.
