1. Shotgun House Roasters

Topping the list is coffee roastery Shotgun House Roasters. Located at 1333 Buena Vista St., Suite 108, it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting five stars out of 50 reviews on Yelp.
Located within a historic factory space, the open and airy coffee roastery roasts and packages its own specialty coffee on-site. You can also grab a coffee beverage inside, complementing it with a breakfast taco or a pastry.
Yelper Sherry Y. wrote, "The aesthetics of Shotgun House Roasters is chic and minimalist to the max. I adore the amount of greenery they invested in every nook and cranny of the open-plan space. With comfy seating in a corner and plenty of wooden tables with outlets for those looking for a work space, it's a perfect combination of hangout as well as down-to-business zone."
2. Piedras Negras Cafe

Cocktail bar and Mexican spot Piedras Negras Cafe, which offers seafood and more, is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 1701 S. Laredo St., four stars out of 13 reviews.
The eatery offers Mexican fare such as carne guisada, huevos rancheros, fajitas, enchiladas, tacos and more.
Max G. said, "Piedras Negras Cafe is a hidden gem! The food is fantastic, but what makes this place special to me is that it is family owned and operated. Even the employees that work there seem to be part of the family, which makes you, as the customer, feel like part of the family!"
3. Mr. P's

Last but not least, check out Mr. P's, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 11 reviews on Yelp. You can find the traditional American spot, which offers tacos and hot dogs, at 1601 Guadalupe St.
The cafe offers tacos (including breakfast tacos), sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers and more. Try the Frito Burger with cheddar, salsa, beans, Fritos and onions, or the smoked chicken salad sandwich with pulled smoked chicken, cranberries, almonds, celery, onion, Dijon mustard and mayo.
