A new weekend-only spot to score bagels and more has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called Genuine Water Bagels, the fresh arrival is located at 305 S. Washington St. in Old Town.
Made fresh daily on site, these New York-style bagels are boiled to give the desired chewiness on the inside, then baked to ensure a crunchy exterior. Keep it simple with a toasted bagel -—sesame, poppy seed, salt, everything — and cream cheese, or step up to a lox sandwich. Eat in at one of the handful of tables, or get a dozen to go to last you a while at home.
With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Genuine Water Bagels has been warmly received by patrons.
Dar D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Jan. 3, wrote, "As a huge fan of Manhattan bagels, I was excited to try these, and I was thrilled to be immediately transported to the establishments I loved frequenting in New York. Be sure to check this place out."
Yelper Emma D. added, “So, so good. The line was really long, though. After chatting with those in line, they said it usually isn't that long. I got an everything bagel and my friend got the sesame. Both were great and were crispy on the outside and had the perfect amount of 'chew' on the inside.”
