The Enduring Power of Moby-Dick
If you're a literary fan, help the Newberry Library kick off its Moby-Dick Read-a-Thon this Saturday. Nathaniel Philbrick, author of "Why Read Moby-Dick?," delivers a keynote address exploring the staying power of Melville's masterpiece as well as a look at the literary giant's career.

Screening and Discussion of Selections from Free Spirit Media
If you're a fan of independent films, come out to the Chicago Cultural Center for screenings of two films. "Fuzzy Legs," written and directed by Amber Eswani and shot at DePaul's Cinespace, captures adolescent angst but from the perspective of a Pakistani-American girl. The other film, "Ahimsa," documents the travels of five young Peace Builders in India. Stay for a panel discussion after the films.
