A new spot to score barbecue and more has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Jack's BBQ, the new addition is located at 701 Fifth Ave. (between Lane and Columbia streets) downtown.

This barbecue joint serves Texas-style barbecue beef and pork, served on butcher paper with sauce, pickles and white bread. Sides like mac and cheese, collard greens and remoulade coleslaw are also available.

Or if you're looking for an early morning eat, this spot serves brisket, veggie and cheddar jalapeño sausage breakfast tacos every day from 7–9 a.m. (Take a look at the full menu.)

With a three-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Jack's BBQ has received mixed feedback, but it's still early days.

Chris V., who reviewed it on Dec 18, wrote, "The line was long, but moved pretty quickly and we had our food in about 10 minutes. Jack was even there handing out yummy samples of brisket as we waited in line to order, and I have to say his brisket is nearly as good as mine. Jack thanked me for the compliment when I told him just that. And when we did get our sandwiches, we were both impressed."

Yelper Jay B., however, said, "I am excited to have Jack's in my office building, but was very disappointed with my $12 order of spicy chicken Caesar salad. The salad was a pile of romaine, with chicken on top, with side packets of Caesar salad and hot sauce. It wasn't even mixed together."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Jack's BBQ is open from 7–9 a.m. and 11 a.m.–2 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
