Crime incidents in Mountain View saw an overall bump last month, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.

Incidents rose by about 19 percent, from 315 in November to 375 in December.

The offenses most on the rise last month were burglary and theft. Burglary rose from 48 reported incidents in November to 87 in December. Theft incidents went from 101 to 122 for the month, or about a 20 percent increase.

While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a notable percentage increase last month in vandalism, from seven incidents per month to 14, and in robbery, from three to six. Compared to the same month last year, vandalism reports and robbery incidents have decreased.

There were 18 assault reports last month, up from 14 offenses the previous month.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, Downtown Mountain View, Moffett/Whisman Road and Cuesta Park saw the largest increase from November to December. Moffett Boulevard, North Wishman and Shoreline West also saw considerable percentage increases in crime offenses for the month, although they continue to have lower overall crime levels.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Mondays produced the most crime incidents last month. The largest increase from the previous month occurred on Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Early afternoon, midday and early morning saw the most crime last month on average each day.
