A new grocery store and eatery has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located in the basement of the AVA NoMa apartment building at 51 M St. NE, the new arrival is called Streets Market.

With a handful of outlets in the DMV region, Streets Market is focused on organic and natural foods. Its aisles are filled with grocery staples, coffee and tea, nutritional supplements, pet products and household goods. It also has departments for meat, seafood, baked goods, fresh produce and alcohol.

The in-house kitchen produces prepared dishes, like poke, daily, and the bar serves selections like rice bowls, tacos and other snacks, plus wine and beer.

With a 4.5-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Streets Market has been warmly received by patrons.

Braden T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Jan. 19, wrote, "The market has a very thoughtful and varied selection of items that goes beyond just typical corner grocer. For example, solid sections of Japanese, Indian and Mexican sauces, spices and condiments. I'm also a fan of their vegetarian and vegan items, like tempeh, tofu and seitan."

Yelper Brian C. added, “The store part has convenience-store quantities of everything, including eco-friendly cleaners, organic frozen pizza and even a limited selection of produce. They also have a decent selection of beer and wine.”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Streets Market is open from 7 a.m.–11 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m.–11 p.m. on Sunday.
