Craving barbecue? You're in luck: a new business has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The newcomer to Five Points, called Burnwood ‘68, is located at 1012 N. Flores St.
All the food is cooked on a smoker built in 1968 and the restaurant is family-owned and staffed. The meat, which includes brisket, sausage, ribs, pulled pork and chicken, can be purchased by the pound, in a sandwich or as a specialty item like a brisket taco or brisket nachos, along with a wide selection of sides such as Spanish rice or pinto beans. Burnwood ‘68 has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a four-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.
Jason B., who reviewed it on Jan. 10, said, "Definitely off the beaten path, this small restaurant served up delicious sides and tasty barbecue. An excellent lunch for under twenty bucks included three different meats—sausage, brisket and ribs—and your choice of three sides."
And Yelper Monica G., wrote, "If you like good barbecue, then you'll love Burnwood '68. My family and I got to experience a feast. Everything was cooked well and flavor was off the charts. You know some places can really dry out their meat, well, not here."
Head on over to check it out: Burnwood ‘68 is open from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
