Spanish Conversation & Salsa Dancing at Cafe Citron

First up, Spanish speakers and those wanting to learn are invited to a happy hour this Wednesday at Cafe Citron. Participants will rotate around the room to meet new people, learn about Hispanic cultures and get in some solid Spanish practice. Two different salsa dancing classes will also be offered. Entry is free, but participants buy their own drinks.

At the same time, up in Petworth, the group Conversational D.C. will be doing a similar thing with German — minus the dancing. Fluent speakers will be on hand to help keep conversation flowing.

Romaniote Jews: Greek and Jewish Traditions & Customs at Embassy of Greece

Also on Wednesday, the Embassy of Greece hosts a free talk about the oldest Jewish community in Greece, the Romaniotes. The featured speaker is Marcia Ikonomopoulos, head of the Museum of Kehila Kedosha Janina (the Holy Community of Janina) in New York City, the only Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere.

Buy Melanin Expo at Smith Commons

Finally, there's a celebration of black-owned businesses this Saturday afternoon at Smith Commons. Your ticket gets you in to socialize, shop for clothing, accessories, food, health, and beauty products, and dance to beats spun by DJ Smoke.
