
Crime incidents in Yorba Linda saw an overall decrease last week, for the third week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 169 for the week of Jan. 7, down from 184 the week before.
The offenses that decreased the most were burglary and assault. Burglary fell to 43 incidents last week, from 67 the week before. Assault went from six to two. Reports of burglary have continued to fall for the last two weeks.

There were three reported robbery incidents last week. That represents a decrease from five incidents the previous week.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of theft went from 17 to 21. Shootings rose from one to three, and vandalism went up from one to two.

There were 91 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of six from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. SpotCrime data also indicates that four arrests were made last week, up from three arrests the week before.
Regarding when most crimes are committed, Wednesdays, Sundays and Mondays produced the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous occurred on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, while incidents on Sundays, Fridays and Wednesdays went up. Early afternoon, late afternoon and evening saw the most crime.
