Crime reports in Burlingame saw an overall increase last month, for the second month in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents rose by about 10 percent, from 782 in December to 861 in January.
Most types of crimes increased this month, led by burglary and theft. Burglary rose from 59 reported incidents in December to 90 in January. Theft incidents went from 89 to 107 for the month, or about a 20 percent increase.
While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a considerable percentage increase last month in assault, from 28 incidents per month to 31, and in vandalism, from 19 to 20. Assault reports have decreased since the same month last year, while vandalism incidents have declined.
Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last month, robbery reports went from four to three.
Thursdays, Wednesdays and Fridays produced the most reported crimes last month. The largest increase from the previous month occurred on Thursdays, Wednesdays and Tuesdays, while incidents on Sundays, Saturdays and Mondays went down. Midday, late afternoon and late morning saw the most crime last month on average each day.
