A new plant-based restaurant has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 1330 Connecticut Ave. NW in Dupont Circle, the fresh addition is called Fruitive.

It's the second permanent D.C. location for the small regional chain that uses fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices in its menu items. Its "liquid meals" include drinks like the F.I.T., made with almond milk, blueberries, banana and peanut butter, to which you can add things like protein powders, chia seeds and probiotics.

Other dishes include avocado breakfast toasts, berry bowls and fruit-covered waffles. There are quesadillas and wraps made with whole wheat tortillas, and tacos built on hummus. Soups, sandwiches and salads are here, as well.

The new arrival has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

John B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 8, wrote, "They did a pretty good job with the mango waffle I got, which was large and filling, had plenty of mango and coconut shreds, and just enough maple syrup and coconut cream on top. I would struggle to pay for their smoothies on any kind of a regular basis, but I could see stopping in occasionally."

Yelper Serena R. added, “Solid option for healthy food that goes beyond a salad. Casual cafe setting. Not the cheapest, but you are paying for good quality.”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Fruitive is open from 7 a.m.–8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–7 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
