The number of crime incidents in Vallejo saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 96 for the week of Feb. 18, down from 124 the week before.
The overall decrease in crime reports was led by burglary and theft. Burglary fell to 33 incidents last week, from 54 the week before. Theft went from 36 to 27.
There was one reported robbery last week. That represents a decrease from eight incidents the previous week. There were also nine incidents of vandalism, down from 12 the week before.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of assault went from 11 to 13.
There were 13 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 10 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations.
Considering the concentration of crime across the city, St. Vincent's Hill and Vallejo Heights continued to have the most reported incidents last week.
Regarding when crime most often occurs, Mondays, Fridays and Wednesdays saw the most reported crimes last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, while incidents on Mondays and Fridays went up. Comparing times of day, late morning, late night and early afternoon saw the most crime last week.
