First, the Urban League of Louisiana is hosting a conversation surrounding "How to Be a Successful Artist" on Thursday. The panel, which includes a visual artist, a musician and a performer, will share their best tips and steps on how to start or grow a career as an artist.

Keith Sonnier: Until Today

Also on Thursday, sculptor Keith Sonnier's exhibit, Until Today, is on display at the New Orleans Museum of Art. It showcases over 30 artworks Sonnier created between 1969 through last year and explores his role in reshaping boundaries of what constitutes sculpture over the last 50 years.

Crescent Fresh Stand-up Comedy

Then, aspiring comics can put their comedic talent to the test at Crescent Fresh Stand-up Comedy Open Mic night on Thursday at the Dragon's Den. Either sit back and enjoy the show or participate in it — but, if you do, make sure to sign up by 7 p.m. in order to take the stage.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to Perform

Then, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company is celebrating 60 years of showcasing the African American experience and dance traditions with a performance on Friday at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for The Performing Arts. The Chicago Sun-Times raved that the "dancers will set the stage on fire" while the The New Yorker called them "irresistible dancers."

La Croix Comedy Festival

Lastly, don't miss a night of laughter, and carbonated water, at the La Croix Comedy Fest on Saturday at The New Movement. Sponsored by the beverage company, two stand-up shows are scheduled for the evening, as well as the chance to take a a picture in the La Croix selfie booth and to walk throughout the company's museum of art.
