The number of crime incidents in Dallas increased slightly last week, for the second week in a row, according to data from CrimeoMeter, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 2,208 for the week of March 18, up from 2,166 the week before.

The offenses that increased the most were assault and theft. Assault rose to 169 incidents last week, from 135 the week before. Theft went from 401 to 434.

While a somewhat smaller category, there was also a considerable percentage increase in auto theft, from 166 incidents per week to 196.

There were 128 reported burglary incidents last week. That represents an increase from 124 incidents the previous week. There were also two incidents of homicide.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of alcohol-related offenses went from 145 to 112. Weapons offenses fell from 16 to five, and domestic offenses went down from 19 to 14.

There were 821 reports of miscellaneous other crimes, a decrease of 15 from the previous week. Other crimes includes a variety of offenses like trespassing, public disturbance and violation of a court order.

Considering the concentration of crime across the city, Northeast Dallas, Southeast Dallas and Far North had the most reported incidents last week. Northeast Dallas and Southeast Dallas were at the top of the list the previous week as well.

Northeast Dallas experienced the highest growth in crime; incidents in the neighborhood have been rising for two weeks in a row. Crime reports in Southeast Dallas also rose for a second week, and incidents in Wolf Creek are up considerably as well.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Mondays, Thursdays and Tuesdays saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, while incidents on Saturdays, Wednesdays and Sundays went down. Comparing times of day, late morning, evening and midday saw the most crime last week.
