Sherman ice cream fans now have a second place in town to grab a scoop. Braum's has opened its newest Sherman location on the southwest corner of US 75 and FM 1417, bringing the Oklahoma-based chain's frozen treats, breakfast, lunch and dinner items to the city's growing south side.
The new store sits on the city's south side, while Braum's original Sherman location is at 2506 N. US Highway 75, near TMC Behavioral Health Center on the city's north side, according to Braum's store directory. That gives the chain a presence on both ends of town, with a third Grayson County store also operating in nearby Denison at 710 N. US Highway 75 near State Highway 120, according to a Texoma Connect business listing. As KTEN News reports, the new Sherman location is open from 6 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. daily, and visitors on opening day received a scratch-off coupon.
Beyond ice cream and burgers, the station's report notes the store also stocks groceries, rounding out the menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items available throughout the day.
A Ground-Up Build Backed by Serious Investment
The project behind the new store is no small undertaking. Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records show the 6,067-square-foot building was constructed from the ground up at an estimated cost of $800,000, developed by Retail Buildings Inc. under a project registered with the state as TABS2024024601, per Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records.
The location itself sits within a much larger commercial push. The intersection of US 75 and FM 1417 is adjacent to Sherman Crossroads, a 130-acre commercial development slated to include retail, dining and a $240 million acute care hospital, according to a LoopNet commercial listing. That same corridor sits just minutes from major high-tech industrial projects, including Texas Instruments' $30 billion semiconductor fab expansion and GlobiTech's $5 billion plant, according to the LoopNet commercial listing.
Roads and Rooftops Racing to Keep Up
The Texas Department of Transportation has proposed improvements to FM 1417 in Sherman. Nearby, master-planned housing projects are contributing to development near the FM 1417 corridor.
That growth tracks with Grayson County's broader population trend. The county's population reached 153,613 in 2025, growing 1.8% year-over-year and 22.2% between 2015 and 2025, according to USAFacts data drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Why Braum's Sticks Close to Home
Braum's expansion strategy is unusually tied to geography. The chain restricts all of its store locations to within roughly 300 to 330 miles of its family farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma. The chain's history is another part of its identity.
For a company built around that strict supply-chain radius, a fast-growing corridor like South Sherman offers a natural place to plant a second flag - close enough to keep the milk fresh, and right in the path of a suburban boom fueled by billions in nearby industrial investment.
