The New Philanthropists Speaker Series featuring Janaye Ingram
First, hear from nationally-renowned speaker Janaye Ingram, who is the co-founder of the Women's March, on Tuesday at the Huston-Tillotson University King-Seabrook Chapel. In a discussion moderated by Terri Broussard Williams, Ingram will touch on how to increase the visibility of the lack of diversity in local non-profit leadership, how to create new leaders and expand non-profit relationships with communities of color. She will also talk about her experience with the Women's March.
Ingram has "engaged communities throughout the United States and internationally on issues like civil rights, voting rights & democracy, health care, education, economic empowerment, women's rights and activism," according to her official website.

Lafayette Live Crawfish Boil @ SXSW 2019: A True Cajun Experience

Also at Huston-Tillotson University, in the DL Auditorium, is this forum to highlight the importance of resilience as it relates to community mobilization on topics such as public health, education, criminal justice and mobility from poverty. Expect to hear from community members, researchers, students, advocates health professionals and more at the free event.

Ethics in Business Award Alumni Reception

Then, come out and see which organizations and individuals will win this year's Ethics in Business Award on Thursday at Concordia University. There ceremony recognizes outstanding ethical business practices and celebrates the idea that doing good is good business in Central Texas, according to www.recognizegood.org. Awards categories include large, mid-size and small business, non-profit, individual and Lifetime Achievement.
In addition to handing out the hardware, the event is a chance for business and non-profit leaders to network and share ideas in a relaxed setting

Nerdy Thursdays @ SXSW
Lastly, the theme for the next Nerdy Thursdays event series, held at the Capital Factory, is Black Futures on the intersection and interplay between Afrofuturism, Black capitalism and Black geopolitics, according to the event organizer. The discussion will feature how creativity, entrepreneurship and politics interact in visible and unseen ways to shape the future of Black people. The panel will include Black Gotham Experience Founder & Lead Creative, Kamau Ware; architect and curator, Sekou Cooke; and Austin-based artist, Dawn Okoro. Following the panel discussion, there will be a VR Remix Party with DJ William Ellis.
