We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which eateries have been getting outsized attention this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Dallas businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

The Henry

Open since February, this New American and breakfast and brunch spot is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "American (New)" on Yelp.

Citywide, New American spots saw a median 2.7 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but The Henry saw a staggering 214.3 percent increase, with a downward trend from a five-star rating a month ago to four stars today.

Located at 2301 N. Akard St. in Near East, The Henry offers avocado toast, french toast, egg dishes and omelettes for breakfast, and, when the day turns to lunch, the menu features poke, soup and salad. King Buffet

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Lake Caroline's King Buffet, the sushi bar and buffet spot, which offers seafood and more, is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.

While businesses categorized as "Seafood" on Yelp saw a median 2.6 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, King Buffet bagged a 60 percent increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a sound four-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 2.4 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.

Open at 10250 Technology Blvd. West since last summer, King Buffet has over 200 American, Japanese and Chinese items daily on its all-you-can-eat buffet. Far North's Mimi's Star café is the city's buzziest breakfast and brunch spot by the numbers.

The breakfast and brunch spot, which opened at 19177 Preston Road in early December, increased its new review count by 76.2 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 3.3 percent for the Yelp category "Breakfast & Brunch."

At Mimi's Star café, look for omelets, Belgian waffles, skillet dishes, crepes, pancakes and french toast available in the morning, while sandwiches, paninis, wraps, burgers and more become available in the afternoon. Imoto

Near East's popular Imoto is currently on the upswing in the sushi bar category on Yelp.

While businesses categorized as "Sushi Bars" on Yelp saw a median 3.3 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, this cocktail bar, sushi bar and pan Asian spot increased its by 21.9 percent—and kept its rating consistent at four stars. Review counts increased by more than 180 percent on a month-to-month basis.

Open for business at 2400 Victory Park Lane since June, the business offers posh Asian dining and entertainment. The menu features signature, vegan, seafood and steak and chicken selections, as well as sushi. The drink menu includes a vast collection of wine, beer and spirits. Mi Cocina

In operation for 25 years, this well-established Mexican, Tex-Mex and breakfast and brunch spot is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Mexican" on Yelp.

Citywide, businesses tagged "Mexican" saw a median 4.1 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Mi Cocina saw a 13.7 percent increase, maintaining a sound four-star rating throughout. It gained 2.4 times more reviews than expected based on past performance, significantly outperforming the previous month.

There's more than one place trending in Dallas's Mexican category: Taco Diner has seen a 20.7 percent increase in reviews.

Located at 18352 Dallas Parkway, Suite 100, in Far North, Mi Cocina serves a bevy of appetizers, fajitas, tacos (including a taco bar) and chicken, beef and seafood entrees on the menu.
