The number of crime incidents in Kenner saw an overall increase last week, for the second week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 139 for the week of March 11, up from 132 the week before.

The specific offenses that increased the most were assault and vandalism. Assault rose to 14 incidents last week, from nine the week before. Vandalism went from one to four.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of theft went from 29 to 22. Incidents of burglary fell from three to two, and shootings went down from three to two.

There were 95 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of nine from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 13 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, down from 16 reported arrests the week before.

Regarding when crime most often occurs, Thursdays, Saturdays and Tuesdays produced the most reported crimes last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Mondays, while incidents on Fridays, Thursdays and Saturdays went down. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, late morning and early afternoon saw the most crime last week.
