The number of crime incidents in Kenner saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 125 for the week of Feb. 25, down from 162 the week before.

The specific offenses that decreased the most were theft and burglary. Theft fell to 21 incidents last week, from 26 the week before. Burglary went from seven to three. Reports of theft have continued to fall for the last three weeks.

There were 15 reported assault incidents last week. That represents a decrease from 18 incidents the previous week. There was also one shooting incident, down from two the week before.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of robbery went from one to two.

There were 78 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of 24 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, nine involved arrests, such as for drug possession, the same number as the week before.

Regarding day and time factors, Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays produced the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Tuesdays, while incidents on Mondays and Saturdays went up. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, early morning and late night saw the most crime last week.
