There's a brand-new brewpub in town. The massive new addition to NoMa, called Red Bear Brewing, is located at 209 M St. NE.
Proudly identifying as D.C.'s only 100 percent gay-owned brewery, the welcoming warehouse space features a large U-shaped bar and many communal tables, as well as the actual brewing equipment. Dozens of board games make it a place to stay and to play. There's also a back yard with more tables and a stage to host periodic events.
Beers include classics, like a wheat pale ale and an American porter, as well as more experimental options, like a chocolate strawberry bock. You'll also find red and white wines on tap, as well as cider, mead and soda. A few food items, like tacos are also available.
The new brew pub has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Ethan G. added, “This spot has amazing beer. It has a lot of games, great tasting beer and many places to sit and relax.”
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Red Bear Brewing is open from 3 p.m.–11 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 1 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.–2 a.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Sunday.
