Dogs in Houston looking for their furr-ever homes

Blue and Red are sweet male spaniel and beagle mixes in the care of Red Collar Rescue.

Blue and Red play well with others and they'll get along great with other dogs. They have all of their shots and are neutered. They are already house-trained.

Hi! My name is Blue. I am a 7 year-old, spaniel-beagle mix. I was adopted from Red Collar Rescue with my brother, Red, about 5 years ago. We’ve been returned to Red Collar due to changes in our Mom’s life and are now looking for a new home together. We’re quite the handsome dynamic duo.

I enjoy running, being near the water (but not in it) and chasing lizards. I also love hanging out with my brother Red and cleaning his eyes/ears for him (Yes.. its adorable!). My all-time favorite thing to do is snuggle under a blanket, preferably with my human. I am very loving and loyal. Even though I’m a little older, I’m still full of energy and full of love. I also have the cutest under-bite that you have to see.

From his brother:  Hi, My name is Red. I enjoy naps, treats and belly rubs. While my brother Blue is the active one, I still love to come along for runs and adventures. One of my favorite things to do is give high fives (…for treats, of course). I’m very friendly and always looking for a new friend. My smile will brighten your day.

Prim is a sweet female husky mix currently residing at Friends For Life Animal Shelter & Sanctuary.

Prim loves cats. She has all of her shots and she's spayed. She has mastered her house-training etiquette.

Notes from Prim's caretakers:

Prim is an adorable husky who gives the sweetest kisses! She sometimes communicates with a signature husky “awoo” that will make your heart melt. She was found in Northwest Houston scavenging for something to eat when she was rescued. Now she is looking for her fur-ever home. Prim would do best in a home without other dogs or animals, but it is possible for her to get along with a proper introduction. She is great on the leash but would prefer not to run into other dogs. She comes fully equipped with kennel training and is great with children and cats. She tolerates baths and nail trims can be scary, but she will ease into these necessary activities when offered treats. Her favorite pastimes are cuddling with her human, going on walks and car rides. Another fun fact about her is that she has one brown eye and one blue. Prim is an A++ student, equipped with commands such as, sit, stay, wait, touch, lay down, kennel and come. She also loves to play with puzzle toys when left alone at home.

Ethel is a female boxer and pit bull terrier mix currently residing at Friends For Life Animal Shelter & Sanctuary.

No other pets please: Ethel is looking for a household without other dogs or cats. She's mastered her house-training etiquette. Her vaccinations are up to date, and she is spayed.

Ethel's current caretakers say:

Ethel is a 2-year-old boxer/pit mix. She is house and obedience trained. She is very sweet and loves being outside to run and play. She loves to cuddle and be around people. She has trouble getting along with other dogs and needs to be in a home where she is the only pet. Ethel is a great companion.

Skye is a winsome female terrier mix being cared for at ADORE Houston.

Skye is a social animal, and she's happy to keep company with cats, dogs and kids. Her vaccinations are up to date, and she is spayed. She's already house-trained.

I am just about 2 years young and weigh 9.8 pounds. My mom had to give me and my brother, Tucker, up as she is undergoing treatment for cancer. They tried their best to keep us, but they are just not able to properly care for us to the best of their ability. I am house trained leash trained and get along well with dogs and kids.

Ziggy is a handsome, regal and gentle 5-year-old shar-pei who came to us with his sister Furla when his mom had a health crisis and could no longer care for them. Ziggy has always been well cared for and loved. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. He has an easy going personality and will make a wonderful companion. He always wants hugs, likes to be kissed on the nose and patiently waits for his turn to get affection. All he needs is a soft bed, good food, water and you!

Furla is a female shar-pei dog in the care of North American Shar-Pei Rescue (NASPR).

Furla wants to be your one and only: She will need a home free of other dogs and cats. She does do well with kids. She is already house-trained. Furla is spayed and vaccinated.

Lucy's current caretakers say:

Are you looking for an agility partner? A flying disc competitor? Or even a dock diver? If so, then meet Lucy! This 10-month-old heeler puppy has the energy and drive to become an amazing canine athlete. If you aren’t the competitive type, she also would make an excellent playmate, as long as you are an active person and include her. Because Lucy has strong herding instincts — she’s a heeler, so it’s her job! — the perfect home will not have young children. It will have experienced or eager-to-learn pet parents who will help her grow into a happy, well-adjusted adult dog through exercise and training. Her current family cannot provide all of the above, but report that Lucy gives the best cuddles and has the most loyal heart.
