Here's where to find the cheapest gas in PasadenaPhoto: iStock

Gas prices in Pasadena stand slightly below the rest of the Los Angeles metro area, where drivers can expect to pay over a dollar per gallon at the pump more than the national average.

The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded on May 15 in the Los Angeles area was $4.04, according to the price-tracking app GasBuddy. That continues a trend where metro-area drivers are facing costs well above the U.S. average price of $2.87, and represents only a slight dip since April 15, when LA drivers paid an average of $4.09 per gallon.

It’s also higher than this date a year ago, when the average price at the pump around Los Angeles was $3.74, while the national average was $2.81.

In Pasadena, the most current GasBuddy numbers show an average price of $3.99 per gallon. But if you drive around, you can beat the average.

The lowest price in and around the city is $3.75, available at Alliance, 50 S. Baldwin Ave. Meanwhile, United Oil at 600 N. Garfield Ave. is asking $3.79.
