We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to analyze which local businesses have been on the tips of diners' tongues this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Dallas businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Midici - The Neapolitan Pizza Company

Open since 2018, this spot to score pizza and salads is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Pizza" on Yelp.
Citywide, pizza spots saw a median 8.5% increase in new reviews over the past month, but Midici - The Neapolitan Pizza Company saw a considerable 108.3% increase, maintaining a convincing four-star rating throughout. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis MidiCi - The Neapolitan Pizza Company's review count increased by more than 260%.
The restaurant, located at 7825 Firefall Way, Suite 180, in North Dallas, has numerous locations across the country. Neapolitan pizza, with a choice of many toppings, is the featured menu item. Other options include wood-fired calzone, pasta, salads and dessert.
Maple Landing

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Love Field area's Maple Landing, the bar, which offers burgers, barbecue and more, is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Bars" on Yelp saw a median 3.8% increase in new reviews over the past month, Maple Landing bagged a 48.2% increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a strong 4.5-star rating.

Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Shayna's Place's review count increased by more than 160%.
Shayna's Place offers a variety of sandwiches, including curried chicken salad, tarragon chicken salad, roasted turkey, meatballs and peanut butter and jelly, with choice of breads. It also serves soups, salads and breakfast items. Over the past month, it's seen its Yelp rating improve from four stars to 4.5 stars.
Alamo Club

M Streets's Alamo Club is the city's buzziest New American spot by the numbers.
The cocktail bar and New American spot, which offers burgers and more and opened at 1919 Greenville Ave. in February, increased its new review count by 36.7% over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 3.5% for the Yelp category "American (New)."
Alamo Club offers a bacon Cheddar burger, seared snapped and spicy sausage ragu among its entrees. It also has an extensive list of cocktails, beer and wine, and a brunch menu featuring omelettes, French toast, breakfast tacos and more.
Doc B's Restaurant and Bar

Oak Lawn's Doc B's Restaurant and Bar is currently on the upswing in the traditional American category on Yelp.
While businesses categorized as "American (Traditional)" on Yelp saw a median 2.3% increase in new reviews over the past month, this bar and traditional American spot increased its by 10.4% — and kept its rating consistent at 4.5 stars.
Open for business at 2021 McKinney Ave. since June 2018, the Chicago-based chain offers sandwiches and burgers, steak frites, grilled Faroe Island salmon and Danish-style barbecued ribs. It also serves brunch.
