The Texas State Library and Archives Commission will unveil its new exhibit, “Women’s Power, Women’s Vote” with a special reception at the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building in Austin. On display through March 2020 in the lobby gallery, this exhibit is timed to coincide with the centenary of Texas’ ratification of the 19th Amendment. Texas ratified the constitutional amendment on June 28, 1919, making it the ninth of the 36 states needed for national approval. This exhibit explores the motivation for and evolution of this struggle and is documented through the personal collections of Texas women and government records.
