Six notable Wisconsin women will share stories about their personal paths to power and influence at this special event, one day after the 100th anniversary of Wisconsin's historic vote as the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment. Speakers include Elizabeth Brenner, former publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; Mary Burke, a former executive at Trek and a 2014 candidate for governor; Bria Smith, an 18-year-old activist and president of the Milwaukee Youth Council; Joan Prince, vice chancellor of global inclusion and engagement for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; Jessie Rodriguez, a state representative since 2013; and Amy Lindner, CEO of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County.

Directed by Holland Gallagher and executive produced by Phonte Coleman (Little Brother, The Foreign Exchange), Hype is a web series drama centering on a young man, Smiles, who is trying to buy the house back for his adolescent love, forced to move away by rising rent costs. When tech entrepreneur Ava English presents him an opportunity to fast-track the process, he agrees, getting mixed into the independent rap and startup worlds of Durham, N.C., along the way. Following the screening, we will have a discussion with the director and one of the series stars, Leroy Shingu (Charlotte-born rapper Well$), who plays the character, Rakim Wilde.
