A new Korean and Asian fusion spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. The newcomer to University City, called Bonchon, is located at 3836 Chestnut St., Unit 2.
This is the second Philadelphia location for the national chain of Korean fried chicken restaurants. The spot serves up wings, drumsticks and strips in spicy and sweet varieties, with sides of fries and kimchi. Check out the other fried chicken creations, like Korean tacos and Crispy Chicken sliders.
With 3.5 stars out of eight reviews on Yelp, Bonchon is finding its way, but it's still early days.
Amanda U., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 9, wrote, "The soy wings were a little too salty, but other than that, it's your typical Korean double fried wings! Yummy."
And Tim S. wrote, "Not your normal sports bar because it has that very clean restaurant feel. I really enjoyed my experience, the food and the service. The prices were very affordable as well!"
