Booksmart

Two academic teenage superstars realize, on the eve of their high school graduation, that they should have worked less and played more. Determined to never fall short of their peers, the girls set out on a mission to cram four years of fun into one night.

With a Tomatometer Score of 97 percent and an Audience Score of 76 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Booksmart" has been a must-watch since its release on May 24. The New Republic's Kristen Evans said, "It's more John Hughes than Judd Apatow, and it's a little more 'Bridesmaids' than 'Lady Bird' ... a success on [its] own terms," while Erin Keane of Salon.com noted, "'Booksmart' puts a fresh spin on the coming-of-age night-of comedy because it's focused on two girls, one of whom is also queer."

You can catch it at AMC Classic Crossroads 16 (1211 E. Interstate 240) through Wednesday, June 19; AMC Quail Springs Mall 24 (2501 W. Memorial Road, Suite E) through Wednesday, June 19 and Harkins Bricktown 16 (150 E. Reno Ave.) through Thursday, June 20. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Late Night

Legendary late-night talk show host's world is turned upside down when she hires her only female staff writer. Originally intended to smooth over diversity concerns, her decision has unexpectedly hilarious consequences as the two women separated by culture and generation are united by their love of a biting punchline.

"Late Night" has a Tomatometer Score of 80 percent and an Audience Score of 79 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

"I'm not sure the film gets all of this right, but it's an intriguing, enjoyable, well-cast effort," according to Linda Holmes of NPR, while Minneapolis Star Tribune's Chris Hewitt said, "What does work — a lot — is Thompson, who conveys wit, intelligence and capability better than just about anyone in the movies today."

It's screening at AMC Classic Crossroads 16 (1211 E. Interstate 240) through Wednesday, June 19; Cinemark Tinseltown and XD (6001 Martin Luther King Blvd.) through Wednesday, June 19; AMC Quail Springs Mall 24 (2501 W. Memorial Road, Suite E) through Thursday, June 20 and AMC Penn Square 10 (1901 N.W. Expressway) through Wednesday, June 19. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Long Shot

When Fred Flarsky reunites with his first crush, one of the most influential women in the world, Charlotte Field, he charms her. As she prepares to make a run for the presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter and sparks fly.

With a Tomatometer Score of 81 percent and an Audience Score of 76 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Long Shot" has proved a solid option since its release on May 3.

"Clearly, Theron can turn her hand to any genre," noted Anthony Lane of the New Yorker, while Tribune News Service's Katie Walsh said, "It's 'Veep,' but less absurdly acid-tongued, and a lot more swoony. Still, the incisive cultural and political commentary cuts deep, and Theron and Rogen turn out to be a winning pair."

You can catch it at AMC Classic Northpark 7 (12100 N. May Ave.) through Thursday, June 20. Click here for showtimes and tickets.
