A new tapas bar and Italian spot has debuted in the neighborhood. The newcomer, called Intermezzo, is located at 623 Ninth Ave.
Previously located in Chelsea, Intermezzo has made the move up the West Side to Hell's Kitchen. This restaurant offers home-style Italian fare, from calamari and Caprese salad to homemade pasta Bolognese and chicken parm. There are Spanish favorites, too, like croquetas and six different styles of paella. Prix-fixe lunch specials are available weekdays, and brunch with bottomless cocktails is served on the weekend.
The fresh addition has garnered solid reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.
Andrew P., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 8, wrote, "I had a vodka sangria that was delicious. The appetizer (organic mixed greens in my case) came out expeditiously and it was a nice size! The main dish was Penne Alla Vodka, which I thought was perfect. The pasta itself was the perfect texture, and the flavors were so good that I was sad when I finished. There was just the right amount of sauce too!"
Yelper Marygrace A. added, “Came here for happy hour, where you can sit either at the bar or the tables. They have $1 oysters and $6 cocktails. They also have a very reasonable $19 prix-fixe dinner, which includes one appetizer and one entree."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Intermezzo is open from noon–11 p.m. on Sunday-Wednesday and noon–midnight on Thursday-Saturday.
