There's a brand-new sushi bar in town. Located at 501 Stadium Place South in Pioneer Square, the new addition is called Matsu.
Matsu offers sushi and sashimi, along with a raw bar, fried dishes like Cajun tuna tataki, crispy calamari, udon noodles and more. There are also vegetarian and specialty rolls, like the Pike Place roll with salmon skin and cucumber, topped with avocado, smoked salmon, scallions, sesame seeds and soy glaze.
The drink menu features specialty cocktails, as well as beer, wine and sake.
Matsu has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Philicia S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 19, wrote, "The otoro (tuna belly) was probably one of the best bites of otoro we have had anywhere. Super melt in your mouth goodness!"
And Blue B. wrote, "First time here with the fam and everything was great — easy to find parking and nice atmosphere and service. Great happy hour menus and full dinner menu looks great as well."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Matsu is open from 4–11 p.m. on Monday-Thursday and 4 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
