Unsure where Philadelphia's in-the-know crowd is eating and drinking? It's easy to spot lines out the door, but some underlying trends are harder to see.

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to analyze which restaurants have been seeing especially high review volumes this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Philadelphia businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are on a hot streak, right now.

Open since March 2019, this steakhouse, which offers seafood and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Seafood" on Yelp.

Citywide, seafood spots saw a median 1.6 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Alpen Rose saw a 55.6 percent increase, maintaining a convincing 4.5-star rating throughout.

It's not the only trending outlier in the seafood category: Acadia has seen a 15.6 percent increase in reviews, and Chubby Cattle and Chart House have seen 12 and 3.6 percent increases, respectively.

Located at 116 S. 13th St. in Washington Square, Alpen Rose offers hot dishes like roast beef, octopus and prawns slathered with garlic and butter. For veggie lovers, there are plates of roasted wild mushrooms or grilled turnips.

While businesses categorized as "Sandwiches" on Yelp saw a median 1.7 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, Glory Beer Bar & Kitchen bagged a 21.2 percent increase in new reviews within that time frame, maintaining an outstanding five-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 4.2 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.
