The Cascade gets a new food stand: Tolu: Modern Fijian CuisinePhoto: Tolu: Modern Fijian Cuisine/Yelp

There's a brand-new food stand in town. Called Tolu: Modern Fijian Cuisine, the new arrival is located at 139 Ninth Ave. North in the Cascade.

Tolu: Modern Fijian Cuisine offers poori tacos, Fijian-style ceviche and bhajia — seasonal veggies dipped in chickpea batter and fried. The food stand sets up shop at various farmers markets throughout the city, including South Lake Union Farmers Market and the Seattle Street Food Festival.

According to the business' website, tolu means "three" in the Fijian language, representing its three founding brothers and its three cuisine influences: Indo-Fijian, Native Fijian and Pacific Northwestern.

With a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the new food stand is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Yelper Chad S. wrote, "Everyone at the booth was friendly and the tacos were our favorite food of the night. The flavors reminded us a lot of Indian food. The chicken had lots of curry flavor and was topped with tamarind sauce and a pico de gallo, all stuffed in some great thin fry bread. We'll definitely return at future markets."

And Alice W. noted, "Really delicious. It shares a lot of similar flavors as a samosa. Everything is cooked really well and is super fresh (the fry bread is even freshly fried on the spot)."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Tolu: Modern Fijian Cuisine is open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.. on Saturdays at the South Lake Union Farmers Market.
