A new Middle Eastern spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called The Gate of Babylon, the new arrival is located at 640 S. Academy Blvd., Unit B in Southeast Colorado Springs.

Serving Middle Eastern fare from scratch, the menu features items like the kebab platter with lamb, beef or chicken (served with seasoned rice, vegetables, bread and special sauces), the shawarma platter with lamb or chicken and a veggie platter with falafel, dolma, hummus and side of tabouleh.

With a five-star rating out of one review on Yelp so far, The Gate of Babylon seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Kirsten R., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 2, wrote, "After hearing about how great and authentic this place was, we went out to try it. The food was delicious and the owner was so sweet and friendly. We'll definitely be coming back and I highly recommend coming out and giving it a try."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. The Gate of Babylon is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.–9 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Tuesday.)
