A new New American restaurant, offering seafood, regional produce and more, has opened in the neighborhood. The newcomer to Navy Yard, called Shilling Canning Company, is located at 360 Water St. SE.
The restaurant features Mid-Atlantic ingredients in dishes, such as Maryland mushroom tart, soft shell crab and grits, Chesapeake rockfish and grilled Baltimore Canyon lobster. Cocktails, wines and desserts are also on offer.
The new addition has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.
Justin P., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 11, wrote, "Great opening night experience. For food, they recommend five to six small plates. We ended up getting six. I think five would've been more than enough."
Yelper Le Système D. added, “Came in for dinner and the place was packed. Had the blue crab appetizer, fluke crudo, deviled eggs, duck confit, soft shell crab, Surryano ham and grilled sausage. Everything was excellent.”
Head on over to check it out: Shilling Canning Company is open from 5 a.m.–10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, and 5 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday.)
