To find out who made the list, we looked at Virginia Beach businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

A new outpost for the New York City-based chain restaurant, this traditional American and fast food spot, which offers burgers and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "American (Traditional)" on Yelp.
Citywide, traditional American spots saw a median 4.6 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Shake Shack saw a noteworthy 264 percent increase, with a slight downward trend from a four-star rating a month ago to 3.5 stars today.

First Watch
Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about First Watch, the cafe and breakfast and brunch and traditional American spot is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp saw a median 3.1 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, First Watch bagged an 85 percent increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a mixed 3.5-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 1.7 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.
There's more that's trending on Virginia Beach's breakfast and brunch scene: First Watch - Lynnhaven has seen an 8.3 percent increase in reviews.
