A Hoodline tipster alerted us that German bakery Hahdough is set to open its first brick-and-mortar at 1221 Fell St. (at Divisadero), the former home of Panhandle Guitars.

Back in 2017, we profiled owner and Hayes Valley resident Ha Do, who grew up in Germany and studied baking at City College. She got her start selling authentic German tortes, pastries, and cupcakes at the College of San Mateo farmers market

While she originally hoped to open in Hayes Valley, Do found more affordable rents in NoPa. Her 600-square-foot konditorei (German for patisserie or confectionery shop) is currently under construction, with an opening target of November.

"I wanted to have something near my house, and this little store was perfect," she said.

At the bakery, Do will sell pastries and cake by the slice, as well as espresso drinks made with beans from Linea Caffe. The pastries won't be baked on-site; she'll continue to produce them in a commercial kitchen.

With her proximity to the DMV, Do said she hopes people will drop by for a coffee or pastry before they head over to wait in line, or grab a morning bite while riding their bikes along the Wiggle.

She'll also continue to sell pastries at the College of San Mateo and Inner Sunset farmers markets. Village Market in the Ferry Building is also selling Hahdough's Berliner doughnuts.

Do is currently hiring a counterperson and a barista for the new shop. Those who are interested should keep an eye out for a job posting on her website.
